International House Times 11 As Cal Celebrates 150 Years I-House is Proud to Join Several Campus-wide Events, Including Big Give and Cal Day I -House was proud to participate once again in Big Give, UC Berkeley's 24-hour online fundraising blitz on March 8th. is year's event was truly momentous! In honor of our 88th anniversary this year, the first 88 donations to I-House, regardless of size, were matched with an additional $100 thanks to three generous donors: Susan Klee, Kwei Ü, and the Berkeley Club of Switzerland. e record total of 104 donations, enabled I-House to win an additional $6,000 in the Big Bang Contest for reaching participation goals, bringing the total amount raised to more than $30,000. We would like to personally thank all who participated. We also want to thank I-House resident, Emily Weisberg (IH 2018), along with her fellow Social Welfare Class 155 team members who gathered donations from their friends and family for Big Give. We could not have exceeded our goals without everyone's thoughtful support that we received throughout the day. For a list of Big Give donors, see page 16. O ver 125 I-House residents, alumni, and community members alike came to I-House to enjoy the Global Beats, Brunch, and Tours event during Cal Day on April 21st, with live music and international cuisine. I-House board member, Richard Palmer, along with the other event attendees enjoyed the fabulous resident entertainment and the delicious international brunch on the Heller Patio. We were also excited to welcome back notable alumnus, Victor Pineda (IH 1999-2000), due to the ramp construction to the Heller Patio that took place last year in an ongoing effort to continue to make I-House, and UC Berkeley, an inclusive and welcoming space for all. Pineda served as President Obama's appointee to the United States Access Board. Pineda shared his joy of being able to access the patio for the first time through the newly built ramp.
