International House Times 13 Back to Berkeley Alumni Are Always Welcome to Visit Their Former Home! To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of arriving in America, Ashok Desai (IH 1968-69) (pictured 6th from left) returned to I-House with his entire family to observe this significant day that changed his life. He enjoyed showing all his children and grandchildren his favorite areas and sharing many of his beloved I-House memories. e family was very proud to celebrate this very momentous day with him. Sunday Supper, one of I-House's oldest and most distinctive resident traditions, is an ongoing special gathering that welcomes residents, alumni, and guests to share food, entertainment, and friendship four times each year. I-House friends and supporters Anne Rosenzweig, Nancy Lim, Joan Jenkins, and the incoming University Section Club officers were delighted to have had the opportunity to attend Sunday Suppers that were held in February and/or April. Sunday Supper: A Time-Honored Resident Tradition 3. UC Berkeley Section Club member and I-House supporter, Joan Jenkins (left), was hosted by the club's scholarship recipient, Zareen Chema. 4. Nancy Lim (left) pictured with Joy Iwasa, Director of Development and Communications, enjoyed meeting I-House residents and learning more about their UC Berkeley experience. Nancy was first introduced to I-House by attending the 2017 Global Homecoming. 1. Anne Rosenzweig (pictured 2nd from right) attended the February Sunday Supper, where she enjoyed speaking French and Spanish with I-House residents. She created an I-House- named scholarship in the memory of her mother, Janine, that is awarded to a deserving international student each year. 2. Members of the Rotary Club of Redding, pictured with Larnie Macasieb (right), always enjoy the candle lighting ceremony at the spring Sunday Suppers. Each year, they coordinate a fun trip for residents during spring break. 1 4 3 2
