International House Times 13 Robert M. Shore (IH 1992-93) Bob Shore is proud to announce his new position as partner and head of patent litigation at Raines Feldman LLP. 2000s Luis Alcazar (IH 2002-03) Luis visited I-House from Yakima, Washington while traveling to Berkeley for a friend's wedding. Luis shared that his time on the Resident Council kept him quite busy and introduced him to many of his I-House friends. In fact, he's had the honor of attending a few I-House couples' weddings over the years. Estefan Ramirez Vazquez (IH 2003-05) and Stefan Safko (IH 2001-03) While visiting I-House, Estefan and Stefan ran in to Maribel Guillermo who they remember fondly. Estefan said "My time at I-House was unquestionably one of the most valuable parts of my education. Some of the best friendships I have ever made came from this wonderful place." Originally from San Diego, and traveling much of the time, Estefan is currently working with Phoenix Tower International and continues his dream to run a fund capable of analyzing and operating businesses globally. He looks forward to helping Stefan carry out his vision of the "Flying Chair Foundation" where people can donate frequent •yer miles to help students who otherwise couldn't aord to •y home for the holidays, or •y families in for graduation. Stefan, originally from Sweden, is developing this dream, and is working in solar energy at Sun Edison. Samveg Saxena (IH 2008-2011) Samveg currently leads a vehicle powertrain research program at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, and was recently featured in an article dispelling the myths of electric vehicle battery range, Goodbye, Range Anxiety? Electric Vehicles May Be More Useful Than Previously Thought. For more information visit: newscenter.lbl.gov/2015/03/30 Yuichiro Tsuji (IH 2004-06) Yuichiro Tsuji (pictured far left) attended Boalt Law School and was a Program Assistant for two years. He graduated with a Doctorate of Science of Jurisprudence. Currently, he is Associate Professor at the University of Tsukuba, Japan. Last February he came to visit with his top students and accompanied I-House residents on a visit to Google in Mountain View. 2010s Fredrik Olovsson (IH 2010-11) Fredrik writes, "Living at I-House sparked my interest in driving donations to causes that aim to make the world better. Creddon. com was launched in April by winning Startup Weekend East Bay. Creddon is a website that enables users to donate $1 to a good cause by Tweeting a photo (your own or one featured on the site). The photo shows the logos of the organization and the sponsor, to give them media exposure. We've featured organizations like the Nepal Red Cross (disaster relief ) and Kiva.org (poverty alleviation). Please visit Creddon.com for news and updates." Renee Manneh (IH 2012-14) Renee came to visit I-House friends and stopped by the Alumni Relations Office to hear more about the Dining Commons Transformation Project. She is excited to return for a meal in the new Dining Commons. Friends Mary M. Tuncer Mary writes, "I-House holds a special place in my heart because my late husband Kaya Tuncer and I met at I-House way back in 1962. It is my pleasure to continue to support I-House and the wonderful role it plays in connecting people from different countries and cultures. Back in 2002, Kaya and I created a non-profit with a very similar mission as that of I-House: Global Friendship Through Space Education (www.gftse.org). We get young people together in the neutral environment of Space Camp Turkey." Alumni: Where are you now?
