I-House Praised in Alumni Survey A Spring/Summer 2013 survey disseminated online and through the I-House Times newsletter collected more than 350 responses from alumni ages 20 to 89, representing alumni from the 1940's to current year, drawn from 36 countries. Alumni reflections on the impact of I-House on their lives yielded the following: • • • • • • 98% indicated I-House had a positive impact on their lives. 94% cited gaining a deeper awareness of views and perspectives of other cultures. Approximately 4 out of every 5 respondents report they: • remain in touch with friends and alumni from I-House • became more self-aware of their own cultural value lenses and prejudice. • became more aware of global issues and how to interpret them. • credit I-House as good to excellent for both its cultural program offerings and social programs. 70% credit I-House with skills that benefited their career, nearly half specifying they gained leadership skills while at I-House. 32% said I-House offered meaningful financial aid that enabled them to live at I-House. 21% make charitable gifts to I-House. When asked to complete the phrase, "Because of I-House…", alumni responded: I have a better understanding of the world and its people. I am forever out of my shell, and have achieved more than I ever thought I could. I found the path to the rest of my life. I-House was a life changer. I expanded my career options, and personal relations and networks, to include and touch the lives of as many of Earth's peoples possible. I have found the love of my life.
