Board Member Transitions A s we usher in the Fall 2023 semester at International House, it is my privilege to extend a warm welcome to our residents, both new and returning. I'm delighted to introduce this issue of the I-House Times Newsletter, filled with inspiring stories, updates, and recognition of some of the remarkable individuals who make our mission possible. is issue explores the profound impact of living at I-House as we delve into the transformative experiences that residents undergo during their time with us. From the forging of lifelong friendships to the broadening of cultural horizons, the impact of I-House resonates far beyond the boundaries of our physical space. It is a testament to the power of diversity and cross-cultural dialogue in shaping global citizens. I am pleased to announce two new members of the I-House Board, Margaret Andrews (IH 1983-85) and Dorothy Militar, and two returning members, Daniel Mouen- Makoua (IH 1984-85) and Peter Robertson. I-House expresses its heartfelt thanks to Joan Kask and to Jawahar Gidwani (IH 1973-76) for their many years of dedicated service on the Board. In our "By the Numbers" feature, we provide a snapshot of the financial health of I-House and the statistics that define our vibrant community, showcasing the diverse and international tapestry that makes I-House a true global hub of cultural exchange and understanding. is issue shines a spotlight on the Robertson Center for Intercultural Leadership & Programs (RCILP). We provide the latest news and an exciting calendar of events, offering residents and the I-House community opportunities to engage with distinguished leaders from various fields and expand their leadership potential. In the "Philanthropy Matters" section, we share stories behind a remarkable chain of generous and inspirational support for financial aid. We honor the donors who have contributed to scholarships and invite you to consider the extraordinary recipients of this invaluable support. I am thrilled to announce the establishment of the Florence & Harry Edmonds Legacy Circle. is circle of esteemed individuals honors those who have included I-House in their estate planning, recognizing their commitment to ensuring that our mission endures for generations to come. is issue also includes the "Honor Roll," where we recognize the extraordinary contributions of our donors, whose generosity enables us to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our residents. We celebrate alumni who have visited through our "Back to Berkeley" feature, highlighting the unique ways in which they continue to carry the I-House spirit with them on their journeys. Furthermore, our "News and Notes" section provides updates on the latest happenings within our community, and we take a moment to remember and pay tribute to those we have lost through our "In Memory" section.
