12 International House Times Look Who Came To Visit! 1. Sisters Kim Ashby and Kari Park came to learn more about the history of their great-uncle Wesley Burnett (IH 1937-38), who met his wife, Ellen Kalbfell (IH 1937-39), at I-House. e sisters' grandmother, Mollie Mckee Boggs (IH 1938-39), also lived at I-House during the same period. It was a highlight for them to receive their relatives' original applications and to see all the rooms they had called home. It made Kim's birthday visit very special! 2. Upon his visit back to Berkeley, Irving Tragen (IH 1943- 47) sat down for breakfast with the Eleanor D. and Irving G. '45 Tragen I-House Fellowship recipient, Diler Cavdar. is scholarship fund, established in 2013, is held at UC Berkeley for partial I-House room and board support for a UC Berkeley School of Law student with demonstrated financial need. 3. Vivien Petras (IH 1999-2000) is a visiting scholar from the Humboldt University in Berlin who wanted to come back to see her old floor. In addition to seeing the door of her room, she was pleased to find the library looks as it did when she was here and that her favorite study place was vacant. 4. Bruce Slavin (IH 1977-1979), while visiting from his home state of Idaho, dropped in to show his wife Nancy one of his favorite places at Berkeley when he was in optometry school in the seventies. He loved seeing his mailbox again. 5. Andrew Harrell (IH 1971-74) stayed in the Ambassador Suite while traveling for business in the Bay Area. He appreciated seeing his nine bricks on e von Kaschnitz Patio for the first time. 6. While visiting from New York, Inge Van Doorn (IH 1995-96) and Riccardo Cazzoli (IH 1995) brought their daughters to see the place where they met. 7. Kathy Rai (IH 1990-91) came by the I-House Alumni Relations Office to find more information on one of her I-House friends from Kuwait. She relished seeing the Great Hall and going down memory lane.
