Reopening Approved by Board of Directors
Hello I-House Community. I am very pleased to share an announcement from I-House Executive Director Shaun Carver.
Dear I-House Alumni and Friends,
I am pleased to announce that on February 1, 2021, the Board of Directors of International House at UC Berkeley unanimously approved moving forward with reopening in the Fall. This decision was made after six months of study during the temporary closure for health and safety reasons, deliberations by a number of working groups composed of Board members and staff, expert external guidance, and important input from alumni and friends of I-House.
The Board also approved reestablishing events and catering operations when public health authorities indicate that the area is in the green (aspirational) and yellow (minimal) tiers.
I want to personally thank all of you for your dedication and support to keep I-House moving forward since the closure announcement just six months ago! We’re only halfway to welcoming residents and staff back to I-House. Still, I am excited about the work we get to do over the Spring and Summer and the collaboration I see happening. No doubt, there are many challenges still to come. But as long as we continue to learn, adapt, and communicate I am confident that we will be successful.
Thank you for helping to keep the I-House dream alive!
Sincerely,
Shaun R. Carver
