10 YEARS AGLOW
GLOWING AND GIVING: THE BIG GIVE AT INTERNATIONAL HOUSE
On March 13, 2024, I-House participated in the annual Big Give, a 24-hour fundraising marathon that united the entire
campus community in a wave of generosity. As an integral part of the Cal community since 1930, I-House used this
opportunity to raise funds for its Scholarship Fund, enabling it to make an even greater impact on the lives of students and
scholars from around the world.
In the lead-up to the Big Give, the I-House community was abuzz with activities to promote the event. Global Community
Ambassadors organized a successful Big Give photoshoot, where residents from diverse backgrounds came together to take
photos and share their appreciation for I-House. A video challenge was also launched, where students held a glowing star
and expressed what they were thankful for at I-House.
The I-House Board of Directors pledged to contribute $13,500 once 135 gifts were made to the Scholarship Fund, further
incentivizing the community to participate. Residents were treated to a rally in the Dining Commons, complete with a prize
wheel and a photo booth, to celebrate the Big Give.
The President of the I-House Resident Council issued a heartfelt call to action, emphasizing the unique role of I-House in
fostering global understanding and the importance of supporting its vital programs, scholarships, and cultural events
through the Big Give. This annual fundraising event was a crucial opportunity to ensure that I-House continues to be a
beacon of intercultural connection and personal growth at UC Berkeley.
Thanks to the generosity of the I-House community, past and present, the fundraising target was successfully met, ensuring
the continued support and enhancement of this vibrant living and learning environment.
