"With I-House, I find comfort in knowing that I will once again be part of a community of people who–just like me–are nervous, excited, and curious about this new culture and society they are entering into. Believing that we will be navigating this period of transition together, and supporting one another, in sickness and in celebration, excites me!" Yicun Liu Daniel K. Freudenthal Scholarship e first time Yicun heard about I-House was from her German friend's mom who stayed at I-House for one semester, and called that time the best experience of her college life. at was almost 30 years ago. It was amazing to Yicun what a rich heritage I-House created by cultivating a community for international students who travelled thousands of miles to the U.S. and providing them with a place to call home. She wanted to live at I-House to be a part of, and contribute to, the I-House community and the principles it supports. For her, I-House is more than a place to live, but a place that gathers ambitious, thriving young talents that push for inclusion and gender equality. A place where people not only care about themselves, but care about each other, and care about the world. She believed she would be a good fit for such a community. "As a socially thriving person, I will actively engage in I-House activities during my stay. I will also continue to try my best to stay connected after I leave as I think the connection with I-house will be a valuable life-long treasure for me."
