Khatharya Um (IH 1983–88) received the Chancellor's Award for Advancing Institutional Excellence and Equity. The award recognizes faculty members who have an extraordinary record of accomplishment in advancing equity, inclusion, and diversity. Professor Um is an internationally acclaimed scholar and advocate whose groundbreaking research illuminates the global impacts of war, genocide, and refugee experiences, with a particular focus on war and genocide in Southeast Asia and its effects on Southeast Asian communities in the U.S. As a self-described refugee-scholar herself, she was the first woman of Cambodian descent to be awarded a Ph.D. in the United States. Pascale Weber (IH 1984–86) is now working as an investor relations manager at D'IETEREN. 1990s Thomas Chalumeau (IH 1990) is now the Principal Investment Officer and Lead Regional manager for the Middle East & Africa Region at the International Finance Corporation (The World Bank Group) headquartered in Washington DC. 2000s Gustave Cordahi (IH 2007–08) returned to I-House and shared, "The Dome was my home as a UC Berkeley graduate student more than a decade ago! Take advantage of this uniquely diverse setting that was an awesome foundation for a career—and life—that has been taking me across geographic and cultural boundaries. With its blend of stressful and joyful memories from grad school days, the I-House will always feel like home!" Mar Rubio-Varas (IH 2001–02) and Daniel Morató (IH 2002) share, "Our thoughts are with you. Stay safe. Stay home. We met at I-House in February 2002. Since then we have married, had two children, and become university professors at Universidad Pública de Navarra. As we go through these uncertain times, we think of our cherished memories at Berkeley. As a historian, I am certain that the memories of these days will go down in the narratives of the House for years to come. Be strong. Be safe. Be the home that we all miss when we return to our countries." Tim Stucka (IH 2005–07) sent word that he married fellow I-House resident Ana Carolina Figueira de Mello (IH 2006) in 2016. 2010s Zareen Cheema (IH 2017–18) has started working with Volvo Cars.
