2014 - 15 2019 2017 In keeping with tradition, the I-House Program Office hosted their signature Coffee Hour event, this time virtually, where residents could chat while enjoying coffee no matter where in the world they were. Despite limited in-person social interactions during the Covid-19 Pandemic, I-House always endeavors to provide a sense of community. August, 2020 Through the support of generous donors and a matching challenge grant from Eric and Wendy Schmidt, the Dining Commons Transformation Project (DCTP) was completed in August, 2015. An $8.75 million dollar initiative, the extensive renovations increased energy efficiency, upgraded outdated equipment, and most importantly, provided more engagement between residents and kitchen staff. 2020 A modern twist on the Spring Festival of Cultures, Global Homecoming features interactive intercultural presentations by CIL, an international fashion show, tours of I-House and opportunities for alumni and residents to speak about world issues over international cuisine prepared by I-House residents and the Dining Commons staff. 2018 On October 3, 2019, the Program Office launched the first I-House storytelling podcast, From All Corners. Featuring an array of I-House residents, the project was born of the notion that powerful stories can inspire intercultural learning and make friends out of strangers. Transforming one of the last public spaces at I-House that was not accessible to those with mobility challenges, the Clarence E. Heller Patio Access Ramp was completed in August 2017. There are now 22 rooms, showers and restroom stalls on every floor and signage that includes braille that are compliant with the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act). Shaun R. Carver is appointed as the sixth Executive Director of International House.
