14 International House Times Look Who Came To Visit! 1. Attending a professional conference in the Bay Area, Dagmar Saschek (IH 1989) was thrilled to see I-House again and visit with Executive Director Hans Giesecke. Her visit invoked many memories, including the evening the Berlin Wall came down. On that epic night, a friend told her to go to the Great Hall, "you need to see what's happening!" e room was filled to the brim with residents watching the news coverage from Germany. Someone loudly announced, "She is German; let her through." e crowd magically parted, and she was able to sit near the TV with the other German residents. Experiencing this historic event with her I-House community is something she will never forget. 2. After a tour, they ended their visit with lunch in the Dining Commons. 3.
