International House Auckland
International House at the
University of Auckland is home
to 172 residents from New
Zealand and from all over the
world. The House was opened
in 1969, sponsored partly by
the New Zealand Government
through the Colombo Plan
and partly by the University of
Auckland. I House Auckland is
fully operated by the University
and has residents from 1st year
undergraduate through to PhD
level. Many social, sporting
and cultural activities are
organised within the House by
an active Residents Association
and the possibilities for social
interaction are many and
varied. The House has pleasant
outdoor surroundings and is
ideally situated within walking
distance of the City Campus
of the University of Auckland.
It is well equipped with an all
weather tennis/basketball court,
squash court, music room,
library and dark room.

I House Auckland has a full
meal plan and the dining room
is the focus of daily interaction
between our residents. All
meals are served with the
cultural needs of our residents
being paramount. Formal
dinners are held throughout
the year with guest speakers
ranging from politicians, sports
people and academics to
distinguished alumni, provoking
vigorous discussion.
Our mission statement says
that the House is founded on
the core values of tolerance,
respect, cultural understanding
and caring for each other.
